to the students who will not see their names on the list of UPCAT passers:
don't lose hope and never think that you don't deserve it.

Ours is a meritocratic society where passing exams is really influenced by an intersection of class, status, and power; and that many who did not pass the UPCAT actually make more sense than some of those who did
don't think for a moment that you are less capable because you didn't make the cut.

The game has been tipped to the favor of the privileged ones, even from the start.
that most of the time passing the UPCAT doesn't mean that you are better than others, but that

your family had the means to send you to an English-speaking private school
where you do not have to share books and sit in a classroom of 40 students just to listen to 1 teacher
It is not your fault that you have not been given the cultural capital (manners, the acquired taste in music and the arts, and the privilege that course through the family) w/c at the end of the day becomes instrumental in your educational success
so to the privileged 10% who will make it to UP and 4% who will be admitted to UP Diliman,

Carry in your conscience that passing the UPCAT means life for many, and may this conscience lead you to serve the people, and ultimately, to be the conscience of the nation yourselves
UPDATE: UPCAT results are out!!!

The non-upper class passers are actually the EXEMPTION and not the rule. The (very few) lower class students who passed the UPCAT do not invalidate the point of this thread.

Still, congrats to the future Iskolars ng Bayan! Serve the people!!!
