As we celebrate the birthday of our #Rama let us try and understand what #Rama stood for. Let me give u a few stories of #Rama that may open our world to #Rama . Wishes to everyone on the occasion of

Story 1: devoted husband :
this story shows #Rama in a different light . Did u know : #Rama is the only Indian deity with just one wife or consort . Even as a king he never abandons Sita (a left propaganda ) infact governs with a statue of hers by his side. #RamNavami

Story 2: Inclusive Rama: When the bridge is being built .. a squirrel wants to help the army of monkeys , who mock him . The squirrel asks Rama to include him . Not only does Rama do that but also runs his hand on its back giving the squirrel stripes!

Story 3: breaking caste barriers: Shabari is a tribal woman. Many great sages were waiting to receive #Rama & #Laxmana but #Rama chooses to go to the hut of Shabari where he eats fruits (berries) tasted & by a woman of 'lower caste' (made jhoota) & praises her. #RamNavami

Story 4: Humble #Rama : even after killing #Ravana , #Rama does not indulge in celebrations , infact he atones for killing #Ravana . He goes & stands near #Ravana ' s feet with folded hands as #Ravana is counting his last moments . #RamNavami

Story 5: Feminist #Rama - in one version, it is not Jatayu but a male crane that tells #Rama of #Sita' s abduction. #Rama blesses the male crane that in the monsoon, the male will rest while the female will feed him food. The male crane tells #Rama others will mock him contd

Contd Story 5 Feminist #Rama : #Rama gives the male crane a boon to rest while the female crane feeds him in Monsoon. Afraid he may be mocked, #Rama tells the male crane - #Rama & #Sita are equal partners, as are all males and females. #RamNavami

Story 6: #Liberal Rama :
Hijras were NOT allowed inside #Ayodhya . #Rama feels very bad when he learns about this upon returning from exile . An entire community is homeless . He brings them inside Ayodha , loves them and promises them all the happiness & citizenship

Story 7 : liberal and forgiving #Rama :
Ahalya was cursed as she was caught & found guilty of adultery & cheating on her husband . #Rama not only releases her from the curse, he also blesses her.
