Now, interestingly, both of these bills were supported by the Energy and Resource Committee - Ms. Lisa Murkowski pushed it through. Now it goes to the Senate for approval
Essentially, it increases permitting for 10 years for folks that want to work there. The islands had been undercut by cheap labor for years.
Both Trump and Murkowski supported this effort.
So, why focus on the Mariana Islands? For those that don't know much about them?

Read up. They are like Puerto Rico is to the U.S. Called the U.S. but without the same privileges. Like Guam, the Mariana Islands have changed hands throughout the years. Caters to Asian tourists mostly.
