To all the Christian women who keep defending the headship and submission doctrine, one day your husband would deny you of your full autonomy because "head of the house". That day all your rationalizing and "submit out of love" won't save you.
One day you would advise him financially and he would shove it dismally because
1. "As the head of of the house I have the final say".
2. "As the head of the house I'm the final authority on finances"
That day I pray your "But the Word of God is not to be questioned avails you".
I'm just over here mad pissed because my friend's mum wanted to advance her studies in Harvard but her dad stopped her from going.
His reason: "As the head of the house it is not right for you to have a PhD while your husband is still a Mr."
If this headship and submission doctrine favored women I would not argue with it. But in no way does it favor a woman to reduce herself. For those who want to argue just know that submission basically is subordination.
You are a black woman saying we should not question the Bible. Do you realize that this same Bible was used to enslave people like you?
How come as Christians we all can acknowledge that a denial of the slavery doctrines is not anti Christian? Was it not through questioning?
I have said it before : "THAT SOMETHING IS IN THE BIBLE DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT."
All it means is that the Bible is showing life as it is. Moreso, this book was written by men divinely inspired or not.
Best believe they were sexist.
Best believe it. Cause if your pastor in 21st century age where women seemingly have more rights is still sexist, how much more the church leaders back then when women were chattel?
Definitely all that sexism must have entered the doctrines they preached.
As a Christian woman, I advocate oneship as seen in Galatians 3:28
"From now henceforth let there be no distinction amongst any of you. Neither Jew nor Greek. Neither slave nor free. Neither male nor female. For you are all one in the eyes of your Heavenly Father"
"Let there be no distinction"

That means there is no hierarchy based on gender, no hierarchy based on race, no hierarchy based on nationality.

That means there is no "man's the head, woman's the neck" analogy cause fam neck is still below.
Even moreso there is no hierarchy cause God created everyone equally and you are all "one" in His eyes.

I know it might be difficult to disagree with the submission doctrine cause it's one of the principles often preached as the founding basis of Biblical womanhood.
I know how hard it is cause I've been there even as a feminist.
But as a church if we want to have happier marriages and families, we must begin to question those part of Scripture that are clearly not in line with the covenant of freedom in Jesus' death. We have to.
For those interested in the history behind the verses, this artcle by @DammyMarcus would help a great deal.
