When I first started out as a design student, some of my first design idols were female Maldivian designers. Fast forward to 3+ years of working and I've met more female designers than male.

Here's an attempt at documenting our female designers. Feel free to add on.
#IWD2018
Most of us are familiar with @bulhaa! 😊 I don't think she even needs an introduction. Check out http://cargocollective.com/bulhaa/Thakethi  for everything witty and dhivehi.
My internet lair as a student was tumblr so it wasn't long before I stumbled on @iman_rshd who at the time was a student herself. She's a brilliant illustrator. > http://imanrasheed.com/

(Her stuff really made me reconsider switching my college too)
Got on Twitter a year after that and stumbled on @anibushry > http://cargocollective.com/anibushry

Her editorial work constantly shows up on Pinterest as "editorial design layout" samples. But have you SEEN her most recent stuff?! 😍
Was searching through @Behance when I stumbled on @maisushi. Girl has mad skills! You'd have seen some of her most recent work on the walls of Hulhumale'.
Met Mariyam Omar sometime in 2013 while painting some billboards. Saw her work later on and realized I'd seen her solo Exhibition a few years ago around 2008 ish. If I remember correctly, she used coffee to paint. She now works at @thinkadv w/ graphic design and illustrations
Kept bumping into @la_who at my faculty in college and later on her work up on @Behance. I think you are all more familiar with her colours and illustrations here on Twitter and @Lotusfihaara

Notice how different she uses colours and dhivehi typography?
Also let's not forget our resident French fry @tanningOil. Always colourful, always bold with a little bit of tradition and culture here and there.

Ps @lavafoshi. Does Rakis Bondu look familiar ? 😉
Stumbled on @thefaridafaiz a few years ago combing through @Behance again. I really enjoyed following her hand lettering work.

But maaaan look at how good those icons are!!
One of my favourite discoveries was the work of this girl > @moothish
Initially saw her undergraduate portfolio and was struck by the boldness of this girls concepts.

She lead the rebranding of @EuphoricRetail and now does brilliant work over at @getawaysmv
Zayana Ahmed is another girl I stumbled on while on the hunt for new designers to hire back in 2015. Girl clearly has got a brilliant knack for branding.

Shifted jobs a year ago and met @AsthuShahindha who does an extraordinary job at coming up with logos, illustrations, layout works, you name it!

Ps. All of the illustrations over at @murakameehun are by her.
Hired this one > @thoonazim almost a year ago and best decision ever!! Jumped right into the middle of the craziest project schedules and has been tackling all sorts work I've been throwing at her.

She designed the concept for the stall you see in the first picture.
@iamShaliya is the ONLY female motion designer I've met (true story. Motion designers seem to be a rare breed) She's handled all of @blakmv 's motion design work for the past 4 years.

Check her work over here : https://instagram.com/p/BgDbCt_A4Yj/

Found another gem while on @dribbble one day, with Samai Azeez. Very different stuff compared to everyone else.

Check out her stuff here: http://www.behance.net/samaiazeez
(Man, I didn't realize I'd still be doing this two hours later) but check out Azleinaa aka Azoo aka Cocostripes.

You'd have bumped into her illustrations that were featured on @taste_mv
Meet @shimanie who, has a lovely portfolio of illustrations based on culture and tradition.

Check out her thaana typography work for @kolidho
Thuppi Athif works at @thinkadv . She specializes in illustration and graphic design as well. Care to share some of her stuff, @thinkadv ?
You're also familiar with @Zara_Fayaz who stands out with her soft pastel colours and distinctive style for both portraits and character illustrations.
Also!! @aarcturuss !! Met and worked with this fiery lady for about a month and she's been doing amazing! Does really good branding work as well as patterns, the latter of which has been featured on @denydesigns
Also adding to the list, Ferlin who most people are familiar with via the @OoredooMaldives calendar this year.
Here's another, guys! https://twitter.com/moothish/status/971817793636122625?s=21
Here's another female designer! đŸ’ȘđŸŒ https://twitter.com/eenaeens/status/971992375592501249?s=21
Forgot about this one. If you were on Deviantart around 2008 ish, you'd have seen the work of @makemebark

Check her work here: http://cargocollective.com/zummi
If you’ve swooned over the familiar album art here, you guys really need to checkout Xuma’s illustration work.
Recently met Solafly who balances out being a graphic designer and a baker resulting in very interesting photos, cakes and packaging for occasions. Look that dhivehi typography cake!
You can follow @immisalym.
