I don't think we all know & appreciate what @sgyemikale & @nigerianstat are doing for us with all the data they provide.
Understandably, they just push the data & don't analyse but let you draw you own inference. So, here's what I found, draw your own conclusions! THREAD
As you read the thread, bear the following in mind:
1. "Labour force population" is the age group 15-64yrs (wish it had been 18-64).
2. About 45% of the population is below 15yrs
3. Only about 3.5-4% of the population is above 65
I believe there's a strong correlation between population, population workforce, registered voters, age demographics and for the fun of it, I tossed in petrol consumption
Let's start with Katsina state where population is 5.7million but workforce is only 1.7m (30%). On it's own doesn't mean much till you see that registered voters is 2.9m. Not sure what explanation will make it jive, but I'm open.
In contrast, let's see Anambra State with a population of 4.1m and workforce of 3.1m (75%). Registered voters here is 2m.
Let's toss in petrol consumption where Katsina consumes 124million litres and Anambra is 534million litres.
A single incident doesn't make a trend so let's go to the other extreme and look at Kano and Lagos:
1. Kano has 9.4m people, a work force of 3.7m but registered voters of 5.1m.
2. Lagos has 9m population, 7.1m work force and 6m registered voters.
I won't bore you too much data but there are a total 14 states in the country where the very awkward situation of voter registration being higher than labour force population occurs and they have one thing in common...one guess for what that is...!!?!?!
I'd just name the states:

Niger
Nasarawa
Plateau
Gombe
Bauchi
Adamawa
Yobe
Jigawa
Katsina
Kano
Kebbi
Sokoto
Zamfara
Kaduna
Bayelsa has a population of 1.4million, workforce of 1.2million & registered voters of 750k and fuel consumption of 90million litres.
Jigawa, on the other hand, has 4.3million people, 1.4million workforce but 1.9million voters and yet, only 35million litres fuel consumption
it does make me wonder:
1. how can you have more voters than workforce?
2. especially where workforce is so small compared to population?
3. whys is this prevalent in ONLY one section of the country?
4. A section where underaged voters was revealed
It's time we started looking critically at these things and challenging authority with data as ammunition. They can't continue to take us for granted!!!! This is the reason a governor will promise 5million votes (they have 5.1m) in a state with only 3.7million as workforce
However, like I said, I'd let you draw your own conclusions and of course, all this data is available on @nigerianstat website if you want to dig further. I'm even happy to send you mine
This is just a teaser to get us all digging and thinking!!!
