The best, the underrated, the must watch:

Lets kick things off with 'The Prince of Egypt', its 20 years old and still one of the best in terms of art and soundtracks.
Fern Gully: the last rainforest

This was something i watched a LOT, its not disney - but its pretty amazing.
And there's a Bat rap.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Dude.

One of the 'its for kids but also not just for kids'. It's beautiful and it's dark.
In a similar vein- Anastasia

A royal execution, a lost princess, RASPUTIN, one of the BEST soundtracks ever (don't @ me) and more bats!
The Land Before Time

Who doesn't like dinosaurs?
Who doesn't like baby dinosaurs?
Who doesn't like baby dinosaurs hanging out?
WHO?
All Dogs go to Heaven

This one has a lot of layers to it.
Layers and tears.

and MURDER.
The Rescuers

Bernard, Bianca, a kidnapped orphan, gators - a dragonfly powered boat! It's a great story and the animation was pretty fantastic.
The Road to El Dorado

I remember watching this a lot. A LOT.
Maybe it was Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh.
Maybe it was the heavily Elton John featured OST.
Maybe it was this scene.
Robin Hood.

IS it weird to be attracted to a fox?
it isn't, right?

It isn't.

This was the first after Bambi to not feature any human characters.
Speaking of foxy foxes.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

A stop-motion directed by Wes Anderson, it's twitchy, but organic and so old school in some ways you can't dislike it.
The Secret of NIMH. Is. AMAZING.

Fuck you, Frozen. Eat a dick.
The Pagemaster.

Christopher Lloyd, Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Stewart, Leonard Nimoy - admittedly it's a bit hit and miss, but I still like it - because the books are talking back.
BALTO

HALF-WOLF, HALF HUSKY, A MISSION TO SAVE A TOWN
BASED ON A TRUE STORY
the wolf part was added for masala -
but everyone loves an underdog(wolf) story .
Grave of the Fireflies -

A Studio Ghibli movie, 30 years old and based on the book "hotaru no haka" which is about the author and his little sister during WW2.

I don't think anything has made me cry like this one.
Watership down.

I watched this when i was little and it fucked me up.
I watched it again later and it fucked me up.
Soundtrack 10/10
Story 10/10
Wary of rabbits now 10/10
The Iron Giant

The animation is beautiful, the storyline is great, it has a running undercurrent about weaponisation of countries. Jebus.

Watch it.
(spoiler: i cried here too)
TITAN A.E

A 2D and 3D animation matchup. the year 3000. A leading man who looks like Dmitri from Anastasia. ANOTHER DEATH STAR.

ENERGY BASED ALIENS.

AAAAHHHH!
Wallace and Gromit

Aardman Animations. There's 4 shorts and a feature length film - all amazing. All quotable. All featuring cheese.

Also, fuck this penguin.
9.

The apocalyse is over, a rag doll comes to life.
There's 999 little easter eggs in here - which require multiple viewings.
The Triplets of Belleville

Is so retro. I love it.
The art is fantastic, there's little to no dialogue.
There's some light shitting on Disney if you're paying attention.
The Animatrix

9 shorts about the backstory of 'The Matrix' - varying styles on animation and concept art.
If you haven't watched this, i will probably make you watch it.
The Secret of Kells

I'm a sucker for heavily mythology influenced stories and art.
If it's Celtic, even better.
The animation is so simple and so ornate and complex at the same time - and the music is gorgeous.
The Fox and the Hound

*cries*
The Black Cauldron

Before the iron-born, there were - THE CAULDRON BORN.
This one flew wayyy under the radar. I wish Disney did more dark fantasy, there was so much potential.
When Marnie Was There

Another Studio Ghibli!
Was She there? Was she not? Is she even real?
The animation is great, as always - but the soundscape on this.

Du-hoooode
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Anthropomorphic animals are always a win.
if they're australian - even better.

The world building and art direction on this are cray.
*Khaled voice*

ANOTHER ONE

Rise of the Guardians

DREAMWORKS TOTALLY KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THE CHARACTER DESIGN OMG AAAHHHH
Kirikou and the Sorceress

Oh my lord this movie.
Is so beautiful and gentle and quirky. And visually stunning.
The Great Mouse Detective

Ratigan is one of the most underrated villains ever, AND he's voiced by Vincent Price.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

NOT A GHIBLI
JUST AS GOOD
Similar to The Butterfly Effect - but so might lighter.
Meet the Robinsons.

Watch this, just for the writing.
Treasure Planet

I don't think there's another movie that kicked my eyes and heart in the nuts this hard.
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Religious symbolism, bible metaphors, the EVAs.
I liked everything in this + the sequels
I've crossed 30!

Ok, bye. I need to go eat.

And watch 'Prince of Egypt'.
