This is a thread, that will consist of mainly media (pictures, videos, gifs) in which I will showcase how important BRANDING was in the process of my Your Absolutely Right EP, and visa versa...
Firstly, I have a folder called "NORMVL Resources, that's in a folder, that's in a folder, in a folder called NORMVL...that's where I keep all my goodies...
Let's start of with this colour, (say hi orange).

My creativity thrives on spontaneity, so I've literally used several other shades of orange throughout the existence of this EP, you'll notice later in the thread.

But I've identified this orange by it's colour code: FC642D
I chose orange for YAR because I felt that it represented who I am and my current mind state, with it being a mix of the colour red (rage) and yellow (quirky).

I saw it as some sought of "grey" area, that was too red for the yellow kids, and too yellow for the red kids...lol...
Orange made a lot of sense to me. Now I won't deny the impact Channel ORANGE and Nostalgia Ultra covers had on my perspective and perception of orange.

I feel like Frank was a kind of grey area and enigma, and his music followed suit...changed how I interpreted orange.
So this was the typography I cooked up for the EP title, and the first use of the colour orange for any media directly related to marketing the EP. I don't think this was FC642D, it came a bit later.
*Introduces new shade of orange*

This is what ultimately became the YAR EP cover. It was illustrated for me by a designer name Jonty Hurd.

On the left you'll see the first attempt from a drawing I sent đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚ and on the right I just sent him the image I took originally *phew*
The boxed and centred layout for it was inspired the MBDTF cover art by George Condo.

I liked the idea of prominent negative space surrounding my character, it visually represented to me being boxed in by external pressures (listen to the EP's intro and NORMVL Still).
That orange/YAR brand identity would go on to spawn various visual extensions of the brand, and ultimately find itself creeping into the parent brand, NORMVL, along side the colours black and a warm white. (more images next tweet..)
😍 NORMVL'd my girlfriend...
Some YAR-related cover art...
The Funny How Lyric Video had a grungy shade of orange as it's canvas -
Oh yes, and of course, my NORMVL Still Music Video, that was succeeded by some dope gifs I made. Watch:
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the orange would find itself influence the parent brand, NORMVL, so that influenced my new merch range, I called these the YAR Editions...
Shout out to Chicken Licken, SoundCloud the orange square at the top of Madvillainy...
And then of course my website is littered with beautiful shades of orange...

This post and a conversation I had with the homie @AKHI_ZA inspired this thread...
So yeah, I love orange a lot...I also wrote a research paper on the importance of cover art in the digital age, you can read it via a link on here: http://www.normvlizm.co.za/coverart.html
