As a kid, I used to buy pens. Been over a decade since I paid for a pen (free supply in office + giveaways in events). But once upon a time, I bought pens

Old faithful then and now continues to be Reynolds 045. Smooth, long lasting and cheap. Thankfully the pen of choice in my office supplies. Love the Reynolds

The problem with Reynolds - inevitably some moron +me included) would take the cap and break the stick with his fingers - one swift clap and it is useless - cannot attach to pocket

Rotomac pens solved this - the cap stick did not jut out. So I tried it.

Shit pen. Cracked, stained the fingers and unreliable line width. Hated it

Another great pen was the Cello gripper. The rubber grip and clear body were excellent. A little costlier than the 045 and thus I used it as a status symbol in my puc and undergrad days

One neighbor would regularly go to US and get back BIC disposable pens. Wrote well but caps were breakable like Reynolds. Also no refills.

Later, when I moved to France, these were the free pens in grad school. Apparently western nations do not use refills any more. Sad

Around Std 7, scented pens were all the rage. I think Rotomac had a model. Problem - after writing a line, the stench(!) would linger on so much it made me sick.

And then there were those multicolor pens. Whatay status symbol. 4 refills - black blue green red. One kantri guy un my stateboard school would claim it is "imported" till i discovered it was also available in the local stationery store.

Then there were the costlier Luxor pens. Thin needle tip, gave the finish of an ink pen. Somehow they tended to dry out too fast though

Somehow I rarely used ink pens. Mostly because the cheaper pens were either the Chinese Hero pens or Camlin. And I was clumsy af using the dropper to suck out Bril/Camlin ink and fill the pen.

I also would shake the pen, staining not just my, but my neighbors' clothes
