Yknow i was thinking about how Lex from BvS doesnt have an army of fangirls ready to woobify him even tho he checks all the boxes: he is white, tragic past, abusive father, shitty childhood.
And u know why this doesnt happen? Because the narrative doesnt let u sympathize with him, the narrative doesn't ever let u forget he is the bad guy. Zack explains why he is like he is but never expects u to care for him because u dont have to.
Like..look at star wars for example kylo ren is the epitome of a white guy who was like "my parents dont pay attention to me so i will join a facist cult" and u have millions of women out there saying that he is a victim.
But with Lex is different because chris terrio and zack snyder condem his actions even tho people could easily spin them into "he just wants to protect the planet. Superheroes can be dangerous"
But no one does. Because we arent supposed to. Zack shone a light into a different kind of toxic masculinity with Lex we dont see very often. "Nerdy entitled rich white guy" and he made us hate him.
Maybe this is why so many bloggers are so offended by this movie.
The see themselves in him. Lex isnt a savy business man, he is a entitled nerdy asshole and CBM fandom is full of those.
