If I were to ask you to tell me the greater number of sexual misconduct charges against a political party since 1980 (Republican vs. Democrat) at the Federal level (President, Senate & House) which would you say?
<Thread>
You might be surprised at the answer
Of the 59 cases since 1980 that have resulted in disciplinary action, resign or retire, 41 of them were from one party.

That party is ....
THE @GOP!

That's right! The party of Family values has almost 70% of the charges/complaints filed at the Federal level. Not the Dems, it was the Republicans.
Let's review:
1980: Robert Bauman from MD
He was charged with attempting to solicit sex from a 16-year-old male prostitute. He completed alcoholism rehab and the charges were dropped. He lost his race for his MoC seat and was not reelected.
1981: Jon Hinson the Republican Congressman from MS resigned after being charged with performing oral sex on a male employee of the Library of Congress.
...
Hinson later acknowledged his homosexuality and became a gay rights activist that fought against the ban on homosexuals in the military. He was also the founder of the Fairfax Lesbian and Gay Citizens Association in Fairfax County, Va.
1981: Thomas Evans (R) from DE
Went golfing in Florida with lobbyist & former nude model Paula Parkinson. Allegations were that she traded sex for political influence. He was voted out of office in 1982.

...
... interesting to note that accompanying him on that trip were future Vice-President Dan Quayle & Congressman Tom Railsback. Marilyn Quayle said it was common knowledge that her husband would "rather play golf than have sex any day."
1982: How about John Schmitz, the (R) MoC from CA?
He was the leader of the ultra-conservative John Birch Society.

He admitted to having a second family but refused to accept or support the two children he produced. Those children wound up becoming wards of the state.
1983: Dan Crane MoC from IL slept with a 17-year-old female page several times in his DC apartment.

This is a scandal that is coupled with Democrat Gerry Studds also caught sleeping with pages, but Rep. Crane was the only one to sleep with a teenager.
1987:
Ernie Konnyu (R) Rep. from CA was accused of sexual harassment. He had asked a female aide to move a name tag she was wearing because it was drawing attention to her breasts. He later said: "She is not exactly heavily stacked OK?" ...
In another instance Konnyu reportedly touched the knee of lobbyist Polly Minor during lunch who caused a scene.

He lost his seat during the next election to Tom Campbell in 1987.
1989:
Donald "Buz" Lukens (R) Rep/OH was convicted of "Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor" for having sex with a 16 yr old girl
Allegedly he paid her $40 & gave her gifts in exchange for sex & the relationship supposedly started when she was 13.
1990: Arlan Stangeland (R) Rep/MN
He lost his campaign for re-election in 1990, because he made several hundred long-distance phone calls on his House credit card to a female lobbyist from VA. This sounds pretty innocuous, but long distance calls were very expensive back then.
1993: Ken Calvert (R) Rep/CA
He was caught with his pants down in a car with a prostitute. He also tried to flee the scene and convince the police he and her were "just talking".
Believe it or not, @KenCalvert is still in the House of Representatives. https://thinkprogress.org/calvert-caught-in-the-act-with-prostitute-lied-attempted-to-run-from-police-c51532d2c70d/

As you can see, The accusations and the "scandals" increase intensity & appear to come to a head with Donald, sadly, they didn't, they keep getting worse.

Please, feel free to use any or all of these tweets to show the trolls who is actually the worse party for sexual misconduct
Going to add to this thread because there’s been additions since 2018.
Let’s start with Pat Meehan.

In Jan. 2018, it was revealed that he used tax payer funds to settle a sexual harassment claim by a female staffer. He was removed from his committees and resigned in 2018.
Jim(AKA Gym) Jordan. He not only failed to report sexual abuse of minors by members of the OSU wrestling team physician, he actually covered it up. He supposedly called one of the victims crying, telling him not to corroborate that the incident occurred. He still denies it.
Not a politician, but stinking to high heaven because of the GOP. Brett Kavanaugh, was accused of sexual assault & misconduct by five women, in incidents that occurred during his high school & college years. The investigation was a sham to push him through the nomination process
The latest is Rep. Matt Gaetz. The news reports coming out suggest he’s engaged in sex with a 17-year-old girl in 2019. He’s being investigated by the DOJ for federal sex trafficking laws. The latest news reports show that he’s a repeat offender & his “friend” has agreed to flip.
