If i ever manage to get the opportunity and the space, i want to make an exhibition of tiny cardboard houses on cardboard islands, spaced out in a dark room, the soft yellow/orange warm lights come from inside the house
There's a 360° projection of stars on the walls and ceiling and some of the houses are linked with floating bridges. There are characters and scenes made up from shadows against the windows inside the houses. There are boats on the islands' beaches
Maybe the lights in the room are controlled with a timer and there's a twenty minutes cycle of day/night. Definitely want to make that someday
This type of cardboard house. With embroidered textile to simulate the island bit?
Maybe a random sea/wind sound generator playing on low in the background.
Tiny laundry hanging on wires on some of the islands and birds and clouds hanging from the ceiling that spin a little when people walk by and, maybe if i push it really far, switches on each island that allows new parts of the island and specific sounds to play
I'm so ready for this someone give me the ressources and it will be the best thing I've got other ideas too like another room with details about each island and its inhabitants and how they got there and stuff and and and
Oh but can you imagine. On some of the islands, there are caves or forests in which you can't see, so there are little screens next to them where there is an animation in subjective view of someone exploring the place??
The ultimate level is this: it's a collab. Lots of artists working on this. Writers make characters and stories for this, there is some sort of hidden quest for the visitor. Voice actors read out parts of lost diaries or letters.
