it's new year and that means it's time for food ppl and publishers to make the whole business of eating so complicated that you no longer know what you're hungry for or what foods are 'real' or, indeed, which end of you the food even goes in
so here are some good things about food to keep it simple. i'm gonna add to the list all january - shoot over yr suggestions!
- putting a candle in fondant icing
- the sweet dregs of cereal milk
- the inevitable bit of melty cheese stuck to the wrapper of yr cheeseburger
- pie gravy making the underside of the pastry all soggy
- butter dripping thru the lil crumpet holes
- biting the heads off jelly babies
- when you cut a poached egg and it oozes gold
- those long folded ones in a bag of crisps
- the smell of bacon when you weren't expecting it
- that lil ‘nipple’ when you peel back the lid of a chocolate mousse
- the top of the lasagne
- a dunked biscuit eaten in that split second between wheat dust and tea sludge
- the choc nugget at the bottom of a cornetto
- seven mcnuggets in the box
- cold butter sliding across a hot pan
thanks @cmclaire, @steffscully, @andreamedaris and @oliverwinton for your help with these! pls everyone send me your suggestion and i'll update the thread tomorrow
