In the very first episode of Xena, Xena gets knocked out because she's distracted by how pretty Gabrielle is, and then later after the battle when Gabrielle meets her she begs Xena to take her away from her betrothed and teach her all she knows.

This show is so gay and precious

Not going to lie, my favourite Gabrielle outfit is her in the blue farmgirl number. It's really cute. And Gabrielle is so cute in the first season. I have so many feels.

This show is such an atrocious historical and geographical mishmash. It's easier to believe that this is a bizarre alien planet than actual places on earth.

But I'm willing to put up with a whole fucking lot for the sake of this ship.

...I had forgotten that Xena was a villain on a path of redemption...

My adoration for the Gabrielle/Xena pairing makes even more sense. It's kinda like the Lena Luthor/Kara Danvers ship. Badass with something to prove meets cinnamon roll who also wants to prove herself.

(But not so secretly both women are badass cinnamon rolls )

Episode 2 starts with Gabrielle telling Xena a romantic myth and Xena's all like, "What's the point" and Gabrielle's like: "Everyone will find someone, even you."
XENA TOTALLY MAKES A LITTLE SIDE-EYE THERE OMFG I DID NOT IMAGINE THAT

Ep 6 is the episode where Xena starts to have something like admiration and also... maybe a kind of tenderness towards Gabrielle, when Gabrielle uses her greatest talents (her words) to defend Xena from a horde of villagers who want to execute her on false accusations.

Up until now Xena's been very guarded around Gabrielle, or usually treating her a bit like a sidekick or at least someone that she has to take care of. It's nice to watch Xena realise that she can rely on Gabrielle to save her life too.

OMFG I FORGOT this was the episode where Aries infects Xena's mind and causes her to attack Gabrielle for the first time.

Gabrielle's unflinching love for Xena is really evident in this episode when she realises immediately that Xena's not being herself.

This show is just... a wild ride. It makes the history/literature/mythology lover inside me die just a little bit. But the camp is also really hilarious.

THE PROMETHEUS EPISODE

Iolaus is all this macho posturing, and even cheering Hercules on, and Gabrielle just clutches to Xena and begs her not to die, to let Hercules save the day by sacrificing himself, and for her not to seek redemption in death but in coming back to her.

Plus we know that so far in the show Xena has only ever used her feminine wiles to manipulate dudes. Her kissing Hercules? Totally about getting the drop on him. :P
