Michael Jackson as we all know was the biggest pop star to ever live we agree? Yes. Good moving on.
1978 The Wiz was released by Warner Brothers Pictures, featuring all black actors and actresses from Motown or affiliated with Motown. Michael’s first introduction into acting which was a dream of his.
The movie did not do as well commercially, and the reviews sucked, typical for an all black film at the time but it’s a classic for us not that 1940 whatever version of The Wiz.
1979 comes and Michael’s first real solo album Off The Wall is released. Produced by Quincy Jones. Michael was reluctant at first to work with him but his team insisted that he did if he wanted a chance at breaking out the way he wanted to as a solo artist.
Off the Wall becomes a hit, selling 20 million copies. And in 1980 the Grammy’s came around and he didn’t win Best Album. Which pissed him off. His album was one of the last disco records of the 70’s and he felt that he should’ve won the award
Michael vowed that his next album would be the best selling album of all time. No one believed him, and they thought he was crazy. He would post sticky notes all over his house predicting his future album sales. Which he usually passed.
He had a habit of going ghost and not releasing albums for two to three years at a time sometimes more. A perfectionist. A few singles and features here and there but you had to wait for a Michael Jackson project. Just how it was.
By 1982 Thriller was released, and he did indeed create the best selling album of all time just as he predicted two years prior at the Grammys. The album sold over 66 Million copies
He also won 8 Grammys in 1984, breaking the record and became the biggest pop star in the world.
One of the biggest moments of his career, as he displayed the moonwalk on Motown 25. He wasn’t going to perform, but he made Motown give him a solo act.
The success after Thriller proved to be a blessing and a curse for the Black star. American media are vultures and he didn’t see it coming. He THOUGHT everyone loved him, which it was perceived as.
His problems began when working on the Pepsi Commercial. Suffered second and third degree burns on the back of his head. Beginning his issues with painkillers.
Shortly after the Pepsi accident, his skin noticeably became lighter, his vitiligo and skin sensitivity began to take its toll and no one in the public knew what was happening.
Fast forward to 1987 ( not gonna talk about the heal the world shit I’m skipping it) He hasn’t put out an album since 1982 and fans are itching for more. Hip hop is in full swing and he wants a new look.
Bad is released, and he doesn’t look like the Michael Jackson from 1982 obviously so the media tears him apart. He remains focused and goes on the Bad tour, which many people think he was at his peak as an artist.
1988 he spends majority of the year touring and increasing his status, he believed he hadn’t hit his ceiling; and his motor was on 100. Even with his health issues and skin condition worsening, he kept performing.
Skipping to 1993, he is now fully white and pale. The media is tossing him around. Doesn’t budge. Reading things like
“Michael Jackson sleeps in Gas chamber”
“Michael Jackson wants to be white”
And the worst of them all
“Michael Jackson is a rapist”
“Michael Jackson sleeps in Gas chamber”
“Michael Jackson wants to be white”

So he agrees to go on Oprah to clear his name on national television. Addressing every rumor that he hasn’t responded to since his noticeable skin change that he talks about in the interview.
He never fully recovered 100% from the 1993 child molestation accusations although he was acquitted of all charges. Took a break from his career then picked it back up.
In the midst of the child molestation trial he was facing a divorce with the Presley girl shortly after.
Fast forward all the way to 2005, he’s back again facing rape charges. Johnnie Cochran represented him ( Lawyer who represented OJ Simpson ) . And he is acquitted of all charges. He was dragged to court in a wheelchair.
After being acquitted of all charges once again, Johnnie Cochran dies. Most celebrities left Michael in the dust, and he’s quoted saying “I’m better off dead, I’m done”
He’s physically tired, hooked on painkillers, losing weight, and at one point wanted no contact with anyone in his family but his mother ( from my knowledge ). And you had to have an appointment just to see him. Dark place.
A country that once held him up so high, tore him down to pieces all the way till the very end. Then held him up again when he was in his coffin, ridiculous. He died very miserably, his last ten years alive was his worst. And he was bound to die sooner or later.
And that is how America destroyed Michael Jackson.
