A Bit Of History -

I am the Grandson of Chief Deputy Sheriff Clay Smallwood, then he was appointed as Sheriff of Curry County Oregon from 1977 until 1979.

He was Chief Deputy Sheriff dating back to the 1950's before he became Sheriff, an era long past and sorely missed.

In the 50's and 60's 'The Sheriff' also had the County Deputy Sheriffs Auxiliary Unit at hand, many had other 'jobs' to do as well...

you won't be finding any Hollywood actors here..

Wm. G. Gauntlett was Sheriff in 1880, he holds his Grandson Wm. H. Gauntlett, who became Sheriff of Curry County in 1967.

Sheriff Wm. H. Gauntlett and my Grandfather Sheriff Clay Smallwood were two from the old school, 'The Law', 'The Sheriff's in Town' everyone took notice.
