My maternal grandmother's parents were simple people who led a honest life. More than 7 children died due to illness They sought treatment for them like any other parent would. They found solace in accepting it as karma. This is a HINDU approach. Don't like it? Shut it. https://twitter.com/VidyaKrishnan/status/933540024984879105
Deracinated idiots like you have no business commenting on religion. The idea of karma is something millions of Hindus, Bauddhas & Jainas believe in and find solace and comfort in. It gives millions of people the strength to toughen up and see another day. So, again, piss off.
In light of this karma fiasco, I would like to share a long dialogue between shrI chandrashekhara bhArati tIrtha mahasvAmi (has attained siddhi) & a disciple, that I found useful as a child. The abrahamic conflict of fate & free-will is not a baggage our dharma carries.
Karma does not encourage fatalism. On the contrary, it gives a framework through which one can make sense of one's circumstances and yet exert effort to forge ahead.
Karma encourages the virtue of perseverance. More on the alleged conflict between free-will and fate.
Continued.....The disciple, like many of us, is never easily convinced.
The AcArya answers the disciple and concludes the discussion by speaking about vAsana-s. //End
The mahAtma who compassionately explained to the disciple: shriNGeri shAradApIThAdhipatIshvara shaMkarAcArya shrI chandrashekhara bhArati tIrtha mahasvAmiji:
Correction. Thanks to @hsraghav for spotting error. No tIrtha.
Regarding vAsana-s, it is perhaps useful to remember the seemingly trivial but actually profound teaching of the setushAman. Cross over the mental vAsanas by performing actions which explicitly run counter to it. The actions will then generate new, good vAsanas
Correction: setuSAman. It looks rather trivial. But if one thinks about it, it’s easier to correct an internal problem of stinginess by going ahead and doing a deed running counter to it in every way, rather than dwell on how to fix it from within.
