Story about the time I met Fats Domino.

My mom was working with the Tipitina's Foundation right after Katrina.
Fats was featured on the sought after 2006 Jazz Fest poster & my parents had gotten me one for my college graduation http://www.art4now.com/Jazz-Fest-2006_p_45.html
I was home for a few days before heading to work at a summer camp for kids with physical disabilities ( https://www.dreamstreetms.org/ )
And mom somehow arranged to get Fats to sign my Jazz Fest poster. Fats lost his house in Katrina and was living somewhere on the West Bank.
My plan was to get the poster signed and head straight to camp (3 hours away). I show up at 10 AM & he's in a robe.
Sitting in the bedroom with the people he was staying with singing his classics along with the CD player.
And drinking a Heineken at 10 AM in his robe. He graciously signed the poster "To Jeff, Luck, Fats Domino" then offered me a beer.
I had a 3 hour drive ahead of me and it was 10 AM so I declined. To this day I still regret turning down a morning beer with Fats Domino.
Anyhow, RIP Fats. Fin.
