When Turnbull is gone, long after he gives some condescending speech about how the people have chosen Labor over the future of this country,
He’s going to write his memoirs. And buried in the 600-odd pages, there’s going to be a chapter on this god awful survey, and in it he’s
going to pat himself on the back because it shows “true democracy” or some bullshit like that. And he’s going to sleep at night and think:
“Yes. This was the right thing to do. This IS what Australia wanted. Needed.” And that book is going to be shipped all over the country, and
people will read it here and there over the years, and as time goes by they’ll get to that chapter, read it and think:
“What an absolute fucking waste of time and money. Why did I spend $4.99 on this garbage memoir by some forgettable fuckwit of a PM??”
So I hope he knows he’s going to be remembered for doing nothing. He’ll just be another big face on the cover of a clearance table book.
