White freelancers who write for the internet, we need to be sharing institutional knowledge we’ve accrued in our field

There are a lot of structural barriers that prevent writers of color from landing stories with white editors

Misogynoir, racism, gentrification, lack of social access to the bars/music venues/spaces/friend groups/etc those editors frequent

I mean it depends on the place. In this case, my editor hooked me up with a contact at cbs who then connected me with the show's creators

but i found the other contacts myself through googling and stuff. as a rule, i definitely try not to promise i'll reach out to someone…
