1. How they treated Elena (this isn't all going to be SE vs DE but we might as well start with it) Stefan loved Elena unconditionally-

Protected her, respected her choices even when he disagreed. Damon constantly hurt Elena & her loved ones, S has literally saved E from him

And Damon never respected Elena's choices or her as a person.

2. Selflessness
Stefan is naturally selfless.He saves people on instinct,whether he knows them or not.He puts everyone before himself

Damon himself has admitted many times that he's selfish. Almost everything he does is to benefit himself & he does nothing to change that

3. Damon's "Development"
-It doesn't exist
-only behaves for Elena, the second she's gone/breaks up w him, he's back to killing people

4. Katherine dying
Damon went into her head in her most vulnerable state to tell her that the slaughter of her entire family was her fault
