Free software that came up with creative ways of "remember to register"
("remember to register" is a good aesthetic!!)
i feel like a lot of the writing/tone in games at that time where affected by developer frustrations to get people to just register & pay

i think what is interesting about old abandoned systems is the software
how was the software that eventually got abandoned and forgotten? how were the games? :)
just as a concept this is really interested to explore; deterioration & abandonment in a virtual environment.

this page still exists :) it's MySpace, Xanga...level old. seeing things like this still around is a pure delight if not for any other reason but for the creative era they represent.
...I miss the goofy little useless extras (like virtual pets, etc...) that websites and software used to have. it really humanized & personalized computers in a special way. it's cool to look back at it and think about how you could re-apply some of that to what you make today.
