@SenCoryGardner I work in ur Denver building. At 31yo, I was a healthy woman blindsided with a #ocularmelanoma diagnosis. #HealthcareBill
Hello, @SenCoryGardner, it's me again, reupping this thread from 2017. I am one of your constituents and wrote to you previously about the #healthcare law.
Today I write to you from my hospital bed at the @UPMCHillmanCC. I am still here on this earth and fighting for my life -- and thankful for the healthcare we get through my husband’s employer.
I got into a cutting edge #clinicaltrial to treat the stage 4 ocular melanoma I’ve been battling since 2014. The treatment includes TIL Immunotherapy and Chemotherapy – using my own cells and re-programming them to attack the cancer cells.
The last week has been hell. 7 days of Chemo, TIL, IL2 treatment followed by 4 days of what felt like both the stomach and respiratory flu. Sore throat, congestion, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, rash, and chills.
Thankfully, my husband is here working during the days and visiting me in the evenings.
I was saddened to learn about #RBG's passing last Friday. Among other issues that are important to me and other women, she was a reliable vote for healthcare being a cancer fighter herself.
Moreover, I was disappointed to see that you are reversing your position from 4 years ago, and are now in favor of this president making a SCOTUS nomination even though we are less than 6 weeks from Election Day and voting has begun. I’m disgusted by the hypocrisy.
As a Coloradoan, as one of your constituents, as someone who is currently battling cancer, I want you to be a voice for me in the Senate.
What will it take for you to stand up to Trump and other Republicans who want to make it harder for people like me to get healthcare?
How can I help you understand the fear of a life-threatening illness AND the fear of not knowing if my healthcare will continue if my husband were to lose his job during a pandemic?
Why is a pre-existing condition not considered discrimination when as a young, healthy 31 yo, I got my first cancer Dx. I did NOTHING to deserve this.
Why should I -- or anyone in Colorado -- vote for you over @Hickenlooper? He is a candidate who has already made clear he will fight for me. Why won't you?
