Tae pulled out of the driveway, glancing at the empty car seat in the back. He had half a mind to drive back in and take Minjun with him, his toddler son was so cranky and fuzzy today. But he knew that carrying Min around would only put a dent on his time. He was running late.
As he shifted into gear, Taehyung glanced at the mirror, grimacing a bit at the sight that greeted him. He looked a proper mess, hair frizzy and eyes shadowed from sleepless nights . And tonight was supposed to be special. It was their wedding anniversary after all.
Taehyung had worked extra hard, decorating the living space and badgering Seokjin into babysitting Min for the rest of the night. He wanted to make an effort, because lately, things have been really abrasive between Jungkook and him.

Taehyung sighed, shifting lanes.
He wasn't sure what it was that had changed. But something definitely had. As the CFO of his father's conglomerate, Jungkook was a busy and important man. And over the years , Taehyung had sort of come to terms with the fact that he wouldn't have a traditional marriage.
Jungkook would sometimes cancel dinners, sometimes miss anniversaries or birthdays, because he's out travelling abroad or something like that. For the most part, Taehyung took it in stride and didn't make a fuss over it. Because Jungkook always made it up to him .
They had date nights, special days when they stayed in and caught up on their favorite movies or shows and they took trips together. Just little pockets of time together, a reminder that they loved each other more than anything else. Taehyung sustained himself with those moments.
But off late, those had dwindled to almost nothing. Jungkook was working on a major merger with another firm and he was so busy and preoccupied, Taehyung felt like he was just a part of the decor at this point. Jungkook was distracted and aloof and Taehyung missed his husband.
He missed holding him, kissing him. Jungkook was missing out on so much with Min as well, and while Taehyung knew that Jungkook's career was demanding, he couldn't help but feel distressed that it was eating away so much of their life together. He didn't want to grow old
staying in the sidelines of his own life. It made him miserable.

Tonight was going to be different. Because it was their wedding anniversary and Jungkook hadn't forgotten. Taehyung had gotten a large bouquet of roses, an assortment of luxury paint brushes he'd been eyeing.
and a few other things he had mentioned in passing to Jungkook. He adored that Jungkook paid attention, even when he didn't seem like he did. And well, he felt pretty loved right now. But , he wanted Jungkook to feel the same way, and in his husband's case, the way to his
heart was genuinely through his stomach. Jungkook loved a home cooked meal and Taehyung would go all out.

Tonight would be perfect. They would share dinner, make love and then, Jungkook would be reasonable and understanding. They would talk.
Everything would be okay.

Taehyung sat in front of the mirror, fixing his hair again for what felt like the hundredth time. Hr glanced at the digital clock on the wall, inching towards eight.

And then he glanced at his phone. No calls or messages either. He had talked to Jungkook earlier.
The younger had seemed distracted as usual but he had definitely agreed to coming home by half past seven.

Taehyung was done with dinner, and the living room was doused in mood lighting and Jungkook's favorite scent. Taehyung himself wore a silky black shirt and fitted
black slacks, his face made up and his hair styled to perfection. He looked really good and he was aching for Jungkook to see him like this. No one made him feel as beautiful as Jungkook did, not the mirror and not his friends.

Taehyung was used to being called beautiful, but
nothing compared to Jungkook's gaze on his face, his fingers on his body tracing every curve and edge, his lips trailing kisses on his neck, whispering filthy endearments and marking him up. His skin began heating up at the mere thought of it an ache settling deep inside him.
He missed it so much. Jungkook's attention on him. He hadn't realised how badly till now. His fingers shook a bit as he grabbed the small tube of strawberry gloss smoothing it over his lips. They hadn't even kissed properly in weeks, he thought miserably.

His phone rang,
startling him a bit. Taehyung quickly rushed to pick it up, eyes lighting up at the name on the screen.

"Jungkookie..." he whispered softly, "Babe are you on your way?"

"Tae, I'm sorry. Something came up, I need to get dinner with one of the other firm's HODs, I'll be late."
Taehyung went still at that.

"Dinner? Jungkook , its our anniversary." He said softly and Jungkook cleared his throat.

"I know baby. I'll make it up to you, I promise. I really need to go and-"

"When?" Taehyung snapped, disappointment and frustration churning inside him.
"What?" Jungkook sounded confused.

"When and how do you intend to make it up to me Jungkook?! And what exactly are you making up for? That list is pretty damn long don't you think??!"

Jungkook stayed quiet and Tae clenched his fists. He hated it when Jungkook didn't respond.
"We haven't shared a proper meal in weeks , Jungkook. We haven't had sex in nearly a month! Do you really not fucking remember you have a husband and a child?!"

"Don't bring Min into this." Jungkook's voice was low but firm.

Taehyung scoffed in disbelief, fingers shaking.
"Right ... I won't bring him up. You're a great father..I won't deny it. But Jungkook what about me? I miss you, so fucking much, do you really not care how you're hurting me?"

"Tae," Jungkook said quietly, voice low and firm." You're upset, I understand. Let's talk later-"
Taehyung snarled, his self control snapping completely.

"No. I'm done with you. I have tried to be understanding, i have tried being supportive, I have tried being there for you but I can't do this anymore, Jungkook." He shook his head, "You're draining me of life , Jungkook."
"Tae , calm down.." Jungkook said firmly." Its just dinner. We'll reschedule. I'll work something out-"

"One night. Jungkook, don't you remember our wedding day? The day we became one? The day we pledged to love each other in front of God and the people who love us? "
"I don't want go reschedule. I want to celebrate ,this day. I want to remember all the reasons I fell in love with you, I want to relive the memories from the best day of my life. I want-"Taehyung bit his lips, "I want to slow dance to our wedding song and make love afterwards".
"I want you Jungkook. I want to be with you tonight? don't you want that with me?"
.He spilled his heart out, all the aches and wishes that filled his heart.

Taehyung stayed still, waiting for Jungkook to respond.

"Please have dinner, Tae. Don't wait up for me."
Taehyung exhaled shakily, all of the pent up emotions draining out of him at once. He felt empty and hollow, his heart aching ,like someone had run a dagger straight through it.

"When did we reach the point," he whispered, "where you no longer care about hurting me?"
"Taehyung. Please..."

"I want my husband back, Jungkook. I want the man who made me feel like the most precious thing in his life, the man who would be here , holding me in his arms if he knew I was hurting... Is that man even there? Or am I just in love with a fucking fantasy?"
"Mr. Jeon, they're already waiting for you in the conference room. We're running late sir.. The Directors asking for you..." Taehyung recognized Jungkook's secretary.

"I'll be there in a minute, Lin. Hang on."

Taehyung closed his eyes, defeated.

"Tae, I'm sorry-"

He hung up.

Jungkook felt ice cold all over, blood roaring in his skull as he tried to focus on the meeting. But he couldn't. Taehyung's words rang in his head like cymbals, and his palms were damp and sweaty , his heart and body aching to run home, right this instant.
But he couldn't.

As head of the finance department, Jungkook was one of the moste important men involved in this merger and he knew that he couldn't afford to miss a single meeting or conference about it. He knew that he had been distant and aloof with his husband.
But it hadn't been intentional. The merger was almost done. In four days they would sign the papers. Jungkook would be free. He had already put in his request for vacation. Three weeks. Anywhere Taehyung wanted to go. They would spend it the way the older wanted.
But Taehyung's words lingered in his head.

Since when do you not care when I'm hurting?

He bit his lips, digging his nails into the oak table, trying to fight the urge to get out of the room and find his husband. Of course he cared. How could he not care? He loved him.
"We're looking at the possibility of revamping the creative department completely- Adding more graphic artists perhaps and -"

Jungkook smiled and nodded, but his heart was elsewhere. Was Taehyung crying right now? Alone? Fuck... what was wrong with him?

Is that man even there?
"Oh fuck this. " Jungkook pushed the chair back, standing up abruptly and making everyone's head turn.

" What's wrong Mr. Jeon?"

"Its my wedding anniversary tonight. And I really want to be there with my husband, Mr. Han." He said firmly, staring right at the director.
Mr Hans brows went up but a small smile played on his face

"You're married, Jungkook?" He laughed. "You've been here almost all day everyday. isn't your husband upset?"

Jungkook flinched.

"Ah, that look says everything. Go ahead, we'll continue tomorrow."

Jungkook nodded,
bowing quickly before rushing out. He all but ran to his office, already making a checklist in his head : flowers, candy, the jewelry box in his jacket pocket, maybe a few balloons that said "I'm sorry" ?

He groaned.

It was his fault, letting things reach this point.

"You're coming to pick him up? Already? I thought you wanted me to watch him all night?! Is everything alright, Taehyung? Are you okay?" Seokjin sounded very worried and Taehyung sniffled, blowing his nose into one of Mins moisturized wipes. He felt terrible, head achy
nose stuffed and just around ill . Which was what happened when you cried for an hour straight over a man who didn't even care. He felt terrible, his entire body throbbing with hurt. It felt like there was a boulder on his heart and his husband had stepped on it with no remorse.
They did argue sometimes, but Taehyung had never felt so... unloved before. And it made him panic. Was Jungkook falling out of love? What if he no longer felt the need to sooth his tears? What if he no longer felt butterflies when he thought of him?

Was he alone in this?
Because Taehyung was still so wildly in love, it was terrifying. Jungkook was everything to him. His life revolved round him and Min and he couldn't ever imagine a life without him. He hit his lips, feeling worthless and inadequate. Had he let himself go too much?
"Jungkook's busy " He said shortly, not wanting to elaborate. " I don't know when he'll be back. Hyung can I just stay with you tonight?" He whispered softly and Seokjin made a small noise of hurt.

"My baby you don't even have to ask. Are you okay driving?"
"Yeah, I'm already in the car. I was driving around to clear my head." Taehyung whispered.

"I'm going to kill that bunny toothed dumbass i swear to God. Baby, if you're feeling unwell just tell me. I'll send Yoongi to pick you up."

"No. Your husband scares me." Tae pouted.
"Yah!" Yoongis voice came from the background and Taehyung smiled a little at how offended he sounded.

Seokjin chuckled.

"Okay, just drive safe alright. And don't worry about Min he's already asleep."

After hanging up, Taehyung checked himself in the mirror and grimaced.
He looked like a proper mess. Sighing, he fixed his shirt a bit and reached for the small bottled water on the side. He took a long sip, letting the water sooth his parched throat. In the aftermath of his tears, he felt a lot less emotional. He probably shouldn't have reacted
like that, but he didn't particularly regret it. It had been building up over the weeks and had just spilled over today.

As he moved out of the side lane and moved, merging into traffic, he watched the sign turn red, right in front of him.

His foot pressed down on the brake
but before the car came to a halt, something huge crashed into the back, sending Taehyung's car spiralling out into the traffic. Taehyung felt his heart drop as the car turned, once twice and he threw his hands up instinctively, bracing for impact as he crashed into the barrier.
It happened so fast he barely had time to breathe, the air bag exploding in his face and the sound of other cars and vehicles filling his head even as the engine in his car began to smoke.

He flinched, shoulders aching something fierce as he tried to move, pain shooting up his
neck. There was a dull throb in his collar, and he felt his fingers start to shake , adrenaline slowly wearing off and reality sinking in.

He hd crashed the car.

He was in a car crash.

"Jungkook..." He choked out, fumbling for the phone. He had to get Jungkook.
