Given another horrifying massacre, we have returned to the gun discourse. But, as usual, it seems that no one is discussing the elephant in the room: we live in an intensely alienated society based around violence worship and full-on brainwashing by hierarchical power structures.
The US is a terrifying mixture of hierarchical mentalities run wild, extraordinary exploitation, a completely shredded social fabric, and a constant, looming knowledge of the nigh-apocalyptic destruction that the machine we live within is causing to the planet.
Living in the US is living every day in a bizarre juxtaposition: between knowing you benefit from a system of domestic and global extraction and yet somehow no structure in your society seems to give a single shit about you.
All this leads to a constant, low-level anxiety about the way things are. For most people, they don't even know why they feel the way they do. They just know their life is miserable and it seems like it shouldn't be. And the power structure has many outlets for that anxiety.
White supremacy is extremely operative in duping white people who are experiencing this alienation. It's the bread and butter of the US. It takes this resentment and funnels it toward those who are even worse off, reinforcing the very system that alienated them to begin with.
But it goes further than that. Living in the belly of this hierarchical machine, we are brainwashed by every single flow to relish our position in the hierarchy. We come to believe that it is through dominating others that we will stop feeling helpless and alienated.
We are told that, if we can become the dominator, we will escape these feelings of anxiety, and resentment, and alienation; that we will find a place within society where we belong, that we will no longer feel impotent and aimless and afraid.
This resentment at impotence sometimes manifests in an unadulterated desire to dominate others. They don't even care if they find a place. They don't care if they are killed. Their mind can only function on hatred and desire to control; even if for the duration of a massacre.
These massacres are a pure representation of the core lessons that are taught to the people: you are only valuable insofar as you can dominate others. To be good is to stand on the necks of other people. Don't feel guilty. Relish it.
Liberals will focus on guns, because they have no intention of really changing this society of alienation and extraction and exploitation. The conservatives will focus on the culture war or some other distraction because they are slavering demons who feed on the suffering.
No petulant complaining, no anti-gun campaign, no electoral time-wasting, no protest, and no expertly worded condemnation will stop the massacres. The only solution remains and shall always remain: revolution.
Either begin building the society to replace this one, which will repair the social fabric, which will create a means of restoration for those damaged by this machine, which will restore the balance between humanity and the ecology, or stop pretending that you care. Act
To all the liberals who still want to disarm the people, ask yourself: do you think that a system of global exploitation will be overthrown with clever argument? There will come a time where violence will be necessary and the fascists will not be coming with their palms up.
