I want to talk about these 3 commitments of the recent antisemitism bill congress passed on Wednesday. You’re not going to believe what I found out. So let’s break it down.
The third commitment calls for amplifying & ensuring US leadership fight *global* antisemitism, working with the DSSE to *Monitor & Combat* Antisemitism & intensifying cooperation with *international parliaments* around the world.
First, The US Government, is out of their scope, having no place fighting global Antisemitism. No where in the US Constitution are they granted the authority to fight a problem other countries have without some kind of treaty approved by 2/3s congress or a declaration of war.
Second, The bill goes on to name one of their unelected agencies, DSSE, to help them out by… monitoring.

Oh they mean spying.

on who? Americans? foreign nationals? Without a warrant? Without probable cause? Without tenable evidence?
Once again, there are no parameters to the power the US Government are granting themselves.

The US government should not be complicit with any agency spying on anyone, let alone enshrining it in a bill and intending it to become law.
It gets worse. In the 4th commitment, this bill lays out a roadmap for weakening our sovereignty via international cooperation with an inter-parliamentary task force to work in conjunction with the Inter-parliamentary Union whose goal is hegemony through global governance.
I reached out to Congressman Massie for guidance on this and he recommended I look into their inter-parliamentary task force, saying “it is their goal to regulate speech.” So I took his advice and I did some investigating,
I learned not only was the Inter-Parliamentary task force proposing sanctioning social media companies who don’t censor speech, but I watched footage from their first meeting and found this task force was developed way back in 2020.
It already included Reps. Ted Deutch (D-FL), the disgraced Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who I believe is the leader, Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL).
This part of the bill is not just an idea in a bill, it’s already happening, and they've been honing their authoritarian plans for censorship for nearly 2 years, while we were all distracted by Covid-19.
The fifth commitment calls on social media platforms to institute stronger and more significant efforts to measure and address online antisemitism while protecting free speech concerns.
Given what I’d learned about the intent of the inter-parliamentary task force, their plan to regulate & potentially sanction social media companies is highly coercive and a gross violation of section 230, which provides immunity for website platforms regarding third-party content
I know Congress would rather vote on a feel good bill with a pretty title than be called a racist or an antisemite if they rejected what the content read, but by doing that this time, all but *one* has agreed the government can censor speech and perform warrantless spying.
The government can’t legislate away hate, no matter how pretty they package they wrap their promise in or how many of our rights they violate in their effort.

It’s about their love of power, not the power of love.
The government cannot solve what’s left of Antisemitism with authoritarianism. I imagine that would simply breed resentment in those who have done nothing wrong and further radicalize the true antisemites.
I, for one, like to see antisemitism in broad daylight where I can freely mock it. Not hidden away underground where I can pretend it doesn’t exist. That helps no one.
In my opinion, the best thing we as Americans can do to combat Antisemitism is to fight their bad speech with better speech or to simply laugh at them mercilessly, and maybe remind them the people who birthed Naziism went 0 for 2 in World Wars.
But I don’t know. That’s just me I guess.
(The thread reader app doesn’t unroll my threads anymore for some reason, sorry guys)
I feel like it’s important to note that people in congress with overt and shameless Antisemitic tendencies voted for this bill.

That’s how you know it’s about power, not Antisemitism.
