Masterminds are a superpower in Crypto

(and you're at a disadvantage if you're not in any).

Here's a step-by-step guide to creating your own:
What's a Mastermind?

It's a group of people who give each other advice and support around a specific topic.

I think of forming a mastermind like picking people to join my Avengers.

You're turning Crypto from a single-player game to a team-based game.
Crypto's too big for any single person to stay on top of everything.

And we all have biases.

Having a mastermind means it's easier to spot flaws in your thinking and investment ideas.

Some Benefits I've Gotten from Masterminds:

• Introductions
• Alpha on projects
• Access to seed rounds
• Potential project partners
• Hearing different viewpoints

Masterminds have an asymmetrical upside.
Getting Invited to Private Masterminds

Be active on Twitter or Discord.

1. Share interesting insights

2. Put yourself out there. How else are people going to find you?

This is one of the best parts of building a Twitter audience.
Forming Your Own Mastermind

I'm not a fan of waiting around.

Take control of your destiny and start your own mastermind.

It's easier than you think, and you have control over the quality and the people involved.

Here's how you do it...
Step 1: Keep it Focused

A "Crypto" mastermind is too broad - keep it focused.

• Threadooors
• Cosmos Plays
• Small Cap Gems
• The Stablecoin Crew
• The Cardano Bagholder Support Group

Think about the topic you want to talk about, and what outcomes you want to achieve.
Step 2: Where to Host a Group?

You don't want to change someone's behavior - you want to be where people are already at.

• Twitter Groups
• Telegram Groups
• Private Discords

Most of the action happens in private telegram groups.
Step 3: What Kind of People to Invite?

You want to find people around your experience level.

Too many newbies mean that more experienced people won't get enough value.
By the way, don't equate # of followers with intelligence.

I know it's tempting to invite Crypto Twitter famous people, but they're probably too busy.

Do some digging.

Plenty of people with < 3k followers who are smart as hell, and probably aren't in any masterminds.
Step 4: Finding People

You can find people on Twitter or Discord.

You should interact with people first for a while.

Give some value and build some rapport.

Once they get to know you, then send an invite.
Step 5: "wHaT dO I sAy?"

Guys, it's not that hard.

"Hey man. I really like some of your insights.

I'm starting a small mastermind group on [Topic] on [Telegram]. We already have a few solid people in there. We'd think you'd be a great addition. Are you interested?"
Step 6: Give Value

Don't create a group and sit back. Start by sharing as much value as possible.

It's The Law of Reciprocity.

You give value, and other people will give.

Over time, the group becomes a self-sustaining flywheel.
Best Practices

I've been in masterminds for the past 15+ years (starting from my previous career).

Here's what has worked for me:
Keep the Groups Small

There's rarely alpha in groups that are too large (25+ people).

No one shares alpha because too many people can't keep a secret.

The group becomes more like a lounge or water cooler.

I like keeping groups of around 3 to 5 people.
Set the Rules

• Be active
• Don't be a dick
• Don't leak alpha
• Try to stay on topic

Create your own rules and enforce them.

Tell people what's expected when they join.
Prune Your Group

Imagine your group is now 10 people.

5 are active and 5 rarely post - kick out the 5 that rarely post.

You don't want leeches in your group because the active posters will start losing interest.
Keep the Alpha Private

Someone invites me to a group and shares some sick alpha.

I'm not going to make a thread about it.

Don't violate someone's trust.

Ask for permission if you want to share the information publicly.
Upgrading the Mastermind

It doesn't have to be only telegram messages.

• You can set up weekly calls on Google meet without Cameras.

• You can meet up at major events such as Bitcoin Miami.

It hits different when you're popping bottles together at E11EVEN.
"What about the masterminds where you pay money?"

I've never paid money for a mastermind.

I'm guessing most of them are shit, and the only person getting value is the person charging you for it.

The best masterminds are organic.
Takeaways:

• The best way to get invited to some is to share interesting thoughts

• I prefer you build your own masterminds

• Small. Niche topic + small # of people

• Create rules and enforce them

• Give massive value so people will share.
