Top 10 Lessons From "Meditatins" by Marcus Aurelius

|Thread
1. Memento Mori

Don't be afraid of death, but be aware of the temporality of the human experience. Nothing else should frighten us if we have conquered our fear of death.

This can free us up to do whatever we feel compelled to do.
2. Perception

Why should we give other people or situations the power to influence our perception?

Training your perception to mastery not only puts your life's quality in your hands, or in this case, your head, but it also helps you achieve your goals.
3. Lower your expectations

Instead of taking responsibility for the actions of others, take responsibility for your own.

People will never live up to our high expectations, so instead of allowing their actions to evoke our emotions, let us return to what we can control.
4. Opportunities

Be like nature, which uses everything, both good and bad, to accomplish its goals. These are the options that will help you see the opportunity in every adversity.

Every day, we come across situations that can be interpreted as a hindrance or an opportunity.
5. Attitude

Continue to remind yourself that you are the narrator of your story, and that how you interpret what you're going through is entirely up to you.

Take the time to make the decision that will strengthen your character and increase your self-control.
6. Control over your life

There are things in all our lives we wish would be different at one point or another. We want to be more like other people, we want to fit in, but we were uniquely created for our own path.

Find the good in your situation, it´s there.
7. Positivity

A human being's duty is to help those with whom we share our lives, and one should not fill one's mind with anxiety-inducing, frivolous thoughts which frequently lead to negative outcomes.
8. Living in the present

"Each of us lives only now, this brief instant. The rest has been lived already, or is impossible to see."

There is nothing to be gained by keeping your mind separate from where your body is.
9. Acceptance

If someone's character flaw has caused one of your problems, do not exert energy trying to change that person's character.

Let things go.
10. Progress

Meditation and reflection are important, but the mark of personal progress is action that helps others and, as a result, connects you more with the human experience.
