Marriage is a formal union and social and legal contract between two individuals that unites their lives legally, economically, and emotionally

Open marriages are something else entirely

Any attempt to separate the 3 will result in trauma and the destruction of 1 or both partners

When one spouse is coerced into an open marriage, the arrangement will not work

Partners often agree to an open marriage in order to make their spouse happy, or to save their marriage

4. Lost feelings of security

Monogamous marriages create a promise of security

For better or for worse, till death do us part

When new partners are introduced intimacy become competitive, leading that sense of security to be challenged and maybe even removed completely.

5. An open arrangement isn’t a cure-all for a marriage that’s on the rocks

It is an attempt to pretend which ends in pain and suffering

Without total commitment there is no marriage

6. It is unnatural and contrary to the laws of the universe

There are strong reasons marriage between 1 man and 1 woman is the building block of successful societies

There is a reason that the destruction of those building blocks is weakening our society
