Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson begins day 2 of her SCOTUS confirmation hearing by speaking on her judicial philosophy: "I am acutely aware that as a judge in our system, I have limited power and I am trying in every case to stay in my lane."
Durbin asks Jackson what was going through her mind, especially with her kids being there, as Hawley made his meritless attacks on her for being soft on child porn. She says, "as a mother, and a judge ... I was thinking nothing could be further from the truth."
Judge Jackson talks about her reality was "completely different" than that of her parents, who had to attend racially segregated schools.

"The fact we had come that far was, to me, a testament to the hope and promise of this country," she says.
