1. Now that #TheKashmirFiles has d nation's attention,I wud like to draw ppl's attention to d targeted killings of Hindus in K'taka.Just as Satish Tikkoo was killed by Bitta for being associated with d RSS, #Harsha & several others were killed in Kerala & K'taka for d same reason.
2. It makes no sense whatsoever to treat d killings of individuals associated with d RSS, BJP or BJYM as lone incidents. These killings are part of a larger organised attempt to silence Hindutvawadis. Therefore,d culprits & their benefactors must be prosecuted for organised crimes.
3. Apart from invoking provisions of the IPC to prosecute the accused in the murder of Harsha and other Hindu activists, the prosecuting agencies and the State Govt must invoke the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act, 2000 (KCOCA) and expose d network behind these murders.
4. We cannot let a repeat of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide happen in any other part of the country. Be it in Karnataka, Kerala or West Bengal,d threat is the same, the mentality is the same and the tactics aren't new. It is for d State to recognise this fact before it is too late.
5. We can't keep moving from one targeted murder to another without even attempting to connect the dots. What's the point of exposing history without drawing lessons from it for the present and the future? Understanding history is not an academic exercise. It must be real-time.
6. Providing compensation for affected families is a must, but preventing and creating deterrence is equally important. I genuinely hope that the churn initiated by #TheKashmirFiles translates to change in the attitudes of the society as well as *the State*.
7. Apart from the provisions of KCOCA, the State must also invoke the provisions of the UAPA in cases of murders of Hindu activists such as Harsha. These are fairly obvious and implementable suggestions. The Hindu society must not pay d price for being vocal about its interests.
8. I ought to have mentioned the murder of Hindu activists like Mahalingam in Tamil Nadu as well. The Coimbatore-Salem region has been a hotbed for jihadi activity for a while now. No wonder the 1998 blasts took place in Coimbatore. Read @arvindneela Anna on the subject.
