Everything you could ever say has probably already been said before.

If you're going to create content of any kind, it is the context that matters most.

People are going to connect with you.

👇
Your story. Your perspective. Your experience.

Want an example?

I can’t tell you how often I’ll go to my wife with a “I learned this cool thing today” and she’ll immediately respond with “I told you this like 6 months ago.”

Why does this happen?
Because I needed to hear it from someone (context) I connected with.

While we were on a cat skiing trip, my friend Dan Martell told me that people read books for the belief around the activity. Not the actual activity.

Where do you think the belief comes from?
There’s a lesson in all of this, and it isn’t “just be yourself”.

i.e. - If you’ve been building companies for a long time, you have valuable experience to share.

And it’s your experience that matters more than if the content is original.
You took the lessons learned and turned it into real activity, and that activity can be translated into a set of beliefs.

Those beliefs are what provide the context lens through which other people are going to look when they hear your words.
I struggled with this concept for a very long time. I didn’t think anybody would want to listen to anything I had to say because it wasn’t entirely unique.

Over the last 2 years my coach has been pulling me to a place where I finally understand this.
I’ve been building companies for 15+ years, and for the last 5 years a very specific kind of company.

Not many people are sharing lessons from building a triple bottom line company.

So that’s what I’m doing now. Sharing.
People connect with people. Not content.
