If you become infected with = coronavirus, your immune system sendsuseful immune chemicals to the affected areas of the lungs to help fightthe infection, which is good because this is how you recover from an
infection.

However in some people there is an overreaction by the immune system causing too many immune chemicals arriving in the lungs. Lungs become inflamed and can no longer work properly, which causes severe breathing problems and can in some cases lead to death in CV-19 patients.

With the CCR5 deletion the comes into play with cytokine storm. So not immune but have unaffected Tcells that fight off infection. Cytokine storm can't happen without CCR5 receptors because there isn't a place for CCLS5 to dock.
