This is probably the most important thread I have made all year. Another reason for the want of fervor and lack of consistency in our devotion is simply this: we have no expectations. We see devotion as a compilation of actions that ought to appease what God seems to demand of us

. So as we do it, we do not expect these practices to do what God intends for them to do. And this is a problem because expectation is central to experience in our world. Except in specific acts of the move of God, you won’t experience what you don’t seek. It is time to see

devotion as the methodical wisdom of God. What if I told you that by praying, studying and fellowshipping, you are making for yourself a hiding in God, a refuge, within which God's influence increases in your life; you are making for yourself a staying in God that preserves you

from this world; these day-to-day practices of seeking God is how your Father keeps you from falling and within His ecosystem. Here is what I mean:

The Bible describes the realities of a man who “dwells in the secret place of God”, Jesus describes the realities of the one who

“abides in me”. First, God does not expect us to visit, he expects us to live in him- this what I mean by an ecosystem of God. And those who live in this ecosystem, who make for themselves a secret place in an open world are the ones that “bear much fruit”. “Why won’t God use me

like so-so?"

What is the quality of your seeking? What is the consistency? This is true for any one God has used- the author, her spiritual father and his father before him: it is those who build a secret place that God entrusts his secrets to. It them that God trains. This

is not because God is rewarding them. It is just a basic worldly system called influence. Whatever you feed yourself consistently will influence you. It is why after seeing certain images repeatedly, you desire their content at random times. The more you feed yourself anything,

the more it will influence you. And God uses this method; the more you feed yourself God, the more His influence in your life. It is possible for God to tutor you through life. God can influence you, your life's trajectory and all your results.

See, devotion is God's method.

If devotion is God's method to influence us, then we will be people that dwell in the secret place of the Most High. We will build altars of worship when no one watches. We will seek God with quality, quantity, and consistency.

We know why.

It is possible to make a refuge in God; a secret place in an open world: it is possible for every area of your life to be steered by God. Stop visiting devotion.
