Our junior faculty search committee has decided on the top 6 candidates to invite for in person interviews. Here are the questions we asked in the Zoom interviews. These are similar to what most places ask from what I gather, but wanted to post these to help anyone about to 1/
interview. A couple other questions that often arose were "What do you think are the main challenges for a beginning PI?" and "What portion of your work can you take with you from your current lab?" I will post some more general thoughts on this process and tips for those 2/
that might help those out there interviewing. But for now I will be focusing on giving the candidates not selected for the next round specific feedback first. Again all of these 14 candidates at this stage were outstanding, and made it very tough to make these decisions. 3/
I am pretty confident that everyone interviewed will be future leaders in their areas, honestly, as I could feel their motivation and passion. Looking forward to having more young colleagues pushing the science forward in ways we old folks never thought of! More soon!
