2 failed startups, a well-paying job at Mckinsey & Co., and numerous mistakes along the way.

Why this IIM-A alumnus still chose PASSION over SURVIVAL.

[A thread] 🧵
Kaushik Mukherjee had everything that middle-class kids crave:

• Gold-medal awardee at IIM Ahmedabad
• Pre-placement offer at Goldman Sachs, New York
• Investment banking job offer

But he was crazy and declined the job offer...
Kaushik chose to pursue passion and started an eCommerce company in 2008.

But the venture failed. Not once but twice.
Kaushik raised seed funding from Rediff to run an online insurance portal.

But it also shut down.
Since he ran out of money, Kaushik joined McKinsey & Co for survival.

But soon he quit his job to start afresh and follow his passion for building something.
In 2015, Kaushik co-founded SUGAR Cosmetics with his wife, Vineeta Singh, another IIM-A Alumnus.

SUGAR, a cult-favourite beauty brand, clocked INR 100 crore revenue in FY 19-20.
The couple believes in the power of finding your WHY and chasing it wholeheartedly.

Once you know your WHY, you don’t quit one thing for another.
They are also the first Indian couple to complete the Ironman Triathlon together.

“Focus on completing instead of competing” is the couple’s success mantra.
I recently recorded a podcast with Vineeta Singh ( @vineetasng) and Kaushik Mukherjee ( @kaushikmkj).

They unfolded the hits and misses of building a cult-favourite, 100 crores turnover brand.
Keep aside whatever you are doing.
