How We Write Cold Emails Without Custom First Lines 🧵

We've sent millions of emails, some with custom first lines and some without.

Heck I coined the term "custom first lines" in 2017

Here's how to send cold email campaigns without them:
First, understand why we write the first line:

It exists to show that the cold email was written specifically for the recipient.

If an email isn't relevant and customized, it will be ignored or marked as spam.

So what's the solution?
Write cold emails that are hyper specific to one group of people

If you're clear on who you're writing to, and they are similar to each other, you can get by without a custom first line

Instead of writing emails to dentists in New York

Write emails to New York dentists that have under 4 stars on Google Maps
Break down your niche into smaller groups with identical problems, and write an email specifically to one person in that group.

The more specific your leads, the less custom the cold emails need to be.
