and then when katsuki apologizes a flower blooms on izuku's chest but he doesn't notice it underneath his clothing so when he changes later that night he just cries and cries and he calls kacchan on the phone and when he picks up deku's just crying "katsuki, katsuki, katsuki"

and katsuki watches the marks appear on his arm and he's holding back his own tears while he calls deku an idiot. he'd been so disappointed when he'd finally called the nerd's name and nothing had happened. he says "stupid" to deku, but it's at himself for not realizing why it

had never worked. they elect to keep it a secret, but everyone can tell the next time they're seen together.
