In 2005, Don Rumsfeld made millions off his holdings in Gilead thanks to a trumped-up bird flu epidemic, for which 60 countries stockpiled Tamiflu. More recently, Gilead's drug Remdesivir is still the only drug approved to treat Covid despite the fact that it doesn't work. Remdesivir was developed at Ft. In Nov 2001, Tony Fauci proposed using Gilead's drug Cidofovir to treat smallpox in case of a bioterror attack or as an additive to to make smallpox vaccines less toxic.
