Excellent critical discourse analysis of media coverage around what's happening in Sheikh Jarrah: "Always the story begins when Palestinians' reaction happens...with the symptom of the illness. It never visits the illness." 1/ https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/1391895178798116864
"The illness is that this state, Israel, the occupying state, has been applying draconian measures against our people in every sense.

Depriving them the right to move, the right to own their property, the right to work, the right to vote in free elections..." 2/
"Every right you can imagine! ...This whole system has been built. Endemic in it is the racism. Endemic in it is the vulgar ultra-nationalism. That's why you get people trying to defend their dignity." -Head of Palestinian Mission to the UK @hzomlot 3/
I am heartbroken at the news out of Sheikh Jarrah & also, honestly, finding it all hard to navigate. There is so. much. competing discourse. Plus, as a person from & in the US, I've been fed a lot of propaganda. All this can make news hard to parse & evaluate. 4/
I so appreciate this clear naming of what's going on and what led up to this point. #SaveSheikhJarrah /end
