Really want to come out of my Chinese hip hop blogging hiatus, but so busy. For now, my top 5 favorite songs from #Vinida's new album "Truth of the Clay" https://justaforeigner398664126.wordpress.com/
#1 "Jasmine" The MV, the sound, the shoutout to the classic Chinese folk song 茉莉花. Just all of that. It is usually the first song second language Mandarin Chinese learners memorize. If you go nothing else WATCH THE MV
The Jasmine MV is going to be a whole thread/post of its own, don't you worry.
#2 "Gotchu" Almost made number one, it's a banger. What can I say?
#3 "Intro/Silver Snake" Usually intro songs are forgettable, but this gets stuck in my head in a good way. Solo is still my favorite #Vinida album but this is my favorite of her intro songs, and it makes Truth of the Clay now my second fav album.
#4 "Bye Bye Boys/88 Boys" This one snuck up on me. Was "meh" for first 10 listens, now it's a huge contender for my third spot.
#5 "Periphery" Background vocals did NOT work for me first couple of listens. I got over it.
Wow, this was really hard, I wanted to do a top 8 or something but you know, had to limit myself a bit. So, I will also have Honorable Mentions: "Need A Bag" we all need a shopping theme sometimes. "Part of You" Classic good Vinida slow song (Think "Beautiful" and "Blood Moon"
What did not work for me: "Hunt You Down" and "Never Say Never" Gonna keep this a positive post, but not feeling those two tracks.
PS #HARAKIRI proves why they are the best in the game AGAIN, in case you needed reminding. Best mixer, producer in the Chinese hip hop game hands down.
