For your first project, don’t build a castle.

Build bricks.

Unconventional advice about online creations.

[ thread 🧵 ]
If you’re getting started, don’t build a castle.

You're better off building bricks.

Bricks are solid, timeless, and consistent.
Bricks are like legos.

Build bricks today, assemble tomorrow.
Initial bricks are poor.

Consistency comes with practice.
Good bricks require reps,

Like 10,000 hours.
Bricks apply to anything.

Blogs, videos, illustrations...
After mastering bricks, it's time to assemble.

Start with something small.
Tweets become threads.

Blogs become courses.
The more unique your creation,

The better word spreads.

"Have you seen that castle?" one said.
Give away individual bricks for free,

To build a cult-like following.
Combine bricks into creations,

To monetize your content.
Bricks build many structures.

Houses, castles, and cathedrals.
Brick walls block out enemies,

And sculptures decorate gardens.
Architects are a dying breed,

They transform bricks into monuments.
For the past three months, I built bricks.

Bricks will be the foundation,

To many future projects.
