why do you need protein ?

proteins are made up of amino acids, and your body uses amino acids to build and repair muscles, bones, basically everything. its especially important to get enough protein on a restrictive diet, as your body is already weakened and a low protein intake
is associated with increased infections, slower healing times and reduced muscle mass. it’ll also help prevent physical symptoms of a restrictive ed like hair loss and brittle nails. it’s important to get enough protein everyday since your body can’t store amino acids.
how much protein should you be getting a day ?

the RDA (recommended dietary allowance) for protein is .8g per kilogram of body weight. if you exercise frequently the RDA is 1.2 to 2g of protein per kilogram. it’s important to space your protein out through the day.
why is protein beneficial for weightloss ?

protein will help keep you satiated longer, and actually increases the levels of appetite reducing hormones in your body. a high protein diet has been shown to burn an extra 80-100 calories a day, and when combined with strength
exercises, protein can help build lean muscle mass, which will increase your bmr / metabolism. it will also help prevent your metabolism from slowing down in the first place and has been shown to reduce late night cravings.
