I really struggle to understand why so many people seem to have difficulty in discerning between having a working class background & being working class. Being working class is a socio-economic reality, having that background but no longer being in that class means you’re not >
> working class. This is particularly important as working class people are those who not only face extreme exploitation but it includes those living in real poverty, facing concomitant insurmountable barriers, & with a complete lack of any real power or representation.>
> The working class is completely missing from policy making for example, & it is partly why our lives are so easily dismissed. Our reality & our voices are important, we are the most marginalised within society, & this must not be erased/obscured through language.
