You know what, I'm going to share all those DMs. I hadn't spoken out publicly since it only affected me so far, but I can't stand the idea of people donating to a project without being aware of this. If you're supporting the Chucky Chicken kickstarter, please read this thread :

The first thing you should know is that so far, none of the animators on his projects were paid. He did agree to pay me for my work, but I would be the only person on the team paid. (please keep reading, there's a lot more)

If you look at the dates, he originally wanted a 5-6 mins short done in a month and half, only by unpaid people. This kinda shows you that this person has absolutely no idea about production times whatsoever and is willing to overwork his poor unpaid team to gross extents.

Now remember he had originally agreed to my rates on Twitter - and we're already now looking at a LOT of backgrounds.

As we continue to discuss the project and rates, I remind him of the price very clearly, and he shows me that he wants his backgrounds of very high quality. At no point did he argue my rates at all. He kept telling me more about what he wanted.

He's now starting to backtrack and telling me he has a budget of $500 for pretty 19+ backgrounds of this quality (WHICH WOULD BE ABOUT $26 PER BACKGROUND)

I advised him to keep his short at a minute max, and we finally agreed on a price, and I even offered to ship him the hand painted backgrounds afterwards.

The first background was completed, and now I'm going to ask you to pay close attention to the dates on Discord. Keep in mind that this whole time, we had agreed on a price, and he was well aware of the costs.

Then is when started to get a little weird : he started to try and get cheaper backgrounds, even tho we had already agreed on a price, which I made sure to remind him of.

8 days later, he STILL had not paid me - I had to actually result to threaten to expose him on Twitter, and oh surprise, I then got paid within MINUTES. He tried to make up another excuse about already sending it, but when he really sent it, I got the email within seconds.

This person is currently hosting a kickstarter - this is someone who is willing to overwork a team of unpaid artists and who tries to come back on rates he has agreed on. This is someone who has no experience of the time and costs of animation at all.

I hate making this kind of posts - I will not tell you to not donate to his project, but PLEASE if you want to do so, read all of this thread first and come to a decision with all the information I have provided.

I have stayed quiet until now because this was only about me, but now that a lot of people are giving this person money, I just have to warn you all of my experience. Stay safe everyone x
