im almost certain the people have said things to bruenig that she doesn't deserve, but it's jaw dropping to see a consensus form that people who don't like her are 'bitter old spinsters' when there are legitimate reasons to dislike and distrust her work in a reproductive context
if someone who recently basically instigated a pile on of a queer activist because of an -intentional or otherwise- misreading of a comment on animal sensuality as a Degraded Depravity, then writes an ode to traditional parenting, then don't take me for a fucking fool??
she is not the only woman on the left who has had children in her twenties, i have many leftwing friends who have done the same. i really don't think that bit is the issue. i think it's social conservatism getting an outsize seat the left commentary table!
a single article or essay can be fine on its own terms but troubling as part of a body of work that it stands in relation with. please don't insult my intelligence by pretending otherwise :)
