To anyone outside @TranmereRovers#SWA, the sacking of Keith Hill will probably appear to be very harsh. However, digging deeper into the situation would reveal exactly why the decision to terminate the relationship with #TRFC was almost inevitable...
When Mike Jackson was sacked with Tranmere 18th in L2, Rovers had won 2 of their first 10 league games, scoring just 6 goals. In the most recent 10 games under Hill, Tranmere have scored just 5 goals, inc. an own goal and 2 penalties, and are 20th in the form table.
This has led to a collapse in league position. Tranmere were 3rd with just 7 games to play, auto promotion in their own hands, and collapsed to 7th, scraping into the play-offs on the final day. Even then, the tame performance saw them drop from 5th to 7th, with 2nd leg now away.
There is also a popular misconception (partly fuelled by the man himself) that KH took over a team near the bottom of the table and surged toward the playoffs, but it simply isn’t true. Tranmere were 18th when MJ was sacked, but were already up to 13th when KH arrived.
With a run of just 3 wins in 13 games to end the season, it means Tranmere have moved up just 6 places during KH’s tenure. Yes, it’s an improvement, but is a 6-place improvement really worth the damage to the relationship with the fans?
KH’s signings have left a lot to be desired, the atmosphere had deteriorated to an incredible degree and his post-match comments following the Colchester game left his position untenable.

100% correct decision from MP and NP, regardless of outcome of play-offs.
