The Health Minister & other govt functionaries were shamelessly peddling lies & busy peddling lies in March when states were raising concerns for vaccine shortage.

SII had early on said that Indian govt wasn’t offering clarity regarding vaccine orders.

It has to be an absolutely naive or administratively inept govt to give states 15 days time to figure out procurements for their requirements.

When we said decentralise vaccination drive what was meant was place procurement orders after receiving requirements from states

Decentralisation of vaccine drive meant that procure for states based on their requirement & then allow states to conduct their vaccine drives as they se fit based on their local infection, infrastructure situation without forcing cowin upon people.

It did not mean that Centre without having procured for supply adequate vaccines leaves the states at the mercy of profiteering manufacturers to procure for themselves!!!

It also meant that center comes transparent on actual production capacity which manufacturers had committed to it & also the scale up & the chain of procurement orders that were placed from when they were placed first, at the initial costs & later costs & the rationale behind it
