Sorry, but it shouldn't be controversial to say:

"Don't buy a car if you have nowhere to keep it"

We'd say to exact same to someone with no garden who wanted to buy a hot tub.

No, you cant just put your hot tub on the footpath outside your house.
So why do we permit cars?
In hindsight, a HOT TUB was probably not the best example to use to make this point.

Just used as an example of a large object that is usually stored outdoors. But its a luxury item that very few people will ever own. So sorry for that

But same applies to items like cargo bikes
and one further clarification.

"Somewhere to keep it" includes council allocated on street parking.

If public parking is provided outside your house, then you have somewhere to keep your vehicle.

If it isn't, you have to consider where you're going to store it before buying it
"I'll just keep it on the footpath"
Is not a legitamate answer and we should not turn a blind eye to it.

If you find yourself in the position of needing a car and having nowhere to store it.

Consider alterntives.
