although to be fair I find the UK's angsty obsession with ID cards really weird. I had one in Belgium. Everyone has one in the Netherlands. They're handy. They don't turn you into the Borg. They mostly just give you an ID that fits easily in your wallet, to be honest...
Also added notes of hilarity when people in the UK say they 'don't want to be watched', etc. Yeah, but you're living in a CCTV state. So many cameras everywhere.

Essentially, you're in the panopticon but you don't want anyone to know who you are? OK.
and yes, I know it's an issue of voter suppression for many critics at this moment. They should be freely given and accessible to the most vulnerable, if they're a requirement to exercise a democratic right.

But in themselves, they're fine.
